Hello. I have a large sleeper planter built and I’m looking at what’s best to fill it.
My garden is south east facing and gets very hot in the summer. I like things to be uniform and neat in style and I’m looking for some hight at the back, flowers would all be in a theme of colour please. I will attach pictures of the look I like.
Could anyone help me with what kind of thing would work? I am a complete novice and would love to learn about what will work.
Thank you

I've done 3 large L shaped raised beds in the last couple of years. One is shaded & mostly evergreens, another was cottage garden all colours & the last I initially did all whites & light pinks but found it dull & so started adding all sorts to it.

What size & depth is yours?

It is very big, about 10 day long and 4ft deep on both ends, there’s a bench bit in the middle so the middle section is 2 ft deep. I thought of 2 trees in the deepest sections? Then plants around it? I love the sounds of yours especially the cottage garden. I was thinking of Mediterranean style? 2 olives trees and herbs around them? It is in a very sunny spot. I have an olive tree that has done well already so was thinking that would be easy for me?!

Olive tree Would be great there. Just don't overcrowd it with plants as the roots are more restricted than you'd think in that smaller space. I'd recommend having a mix of evergreen & perennials/annuals. I have box, a smallish cypress tree & some phormium in my beds, as well as grasses & flowers. Will try to find some pics of mine. My style is somewhat slapdash! 😁

Wanted to resurrect this thread as I am also looking for inspiration for my sleeper planters.

I have 2 and they are each 3m x 0.5m and 0.6m high. One gets full sun pretty much all day and the other is in shade for half the day.

They are separating a lawn area from a raised decked area so looking for plants that give some height as well as structure and all year round interest.

Any ideas?
