Rose Arch

Hi Mumsnet gardeners!

Do any of you have any recommendations for a good quality rose arch? The ones I've seen online are very mundane or hugely expensive, so I would be grateful if you can recommend one that is man enough to bear the weight of a fairly large rose.

Alternatively, have any of you more creative types made your own by ingeniously using items designed for a different purpose?

I am particulary keen to find a contemporary/edgy look.

Thanks!!

No specific recommendations, but a reminder to consider the height of the arch. If you want to be able to walk under it without ducking to avoid the rose trained above your head, allow 7ft clearance after its in the ground

I have recently bought this one after buying a cheap one which listed and fell apart in 3 years. I think too cheap becomes a false economy on arches unfortunately! The new one feels much sturdier and should last much longer.

Thanks @callmemousie - have you erected yours yet? Just out of interest, what have you got growing over your arch - interested for ideas.

Tia

Yes, it's up and looks lovely. We have a climbing rose from David Austin which is lovely but has had to have quite a hard prune in the process of swapping arches - hoping it still flowers well next summer!

I made an arch out of willow. You can grow a small tree and when the branches are long cut them. It’s wonderfully flexible and I have it over my front gate with roses in it now.
