Where does the stuff you put into your compost bin ^go^?

It's a mystery, innit?

We have been putting stuff into ours since the autumn and it never seems to get any fuller. Or at least, when you put a load of grass cuttings in there you think it's going to fill up but you go back a few days later and it's all gone.

I have a few theories.

One is that the compost bin is actually the concealed entrance to a tunnel.
Another is that there are organised gangs going round and stealing our vegetable matter.
It surely can't compress down that much?

Oooh, I would love a compost bin and musing as you do.
Or even a wormery, drool.

The compost fairies take it away.

No they do! Honest. Either that or my little compost bin is actually bottomless. Never taken any compost out yet - I'm a bit afraid to see what is there.

Compost fairies....hmm.... will look out for little muddy footprints across the patio.

In my experience the rats come and take any tasty looking morsel which means the compost goes down at a rapid rate these days

um - the technical answer is it decomposes to gas which escapes - but that is not as much fun as the compost fairy theory !

I wish ours would it fills up too quickly and now we are waiting for another one to arrive.I feel so guilty putting the compost in the bin
