We planted giant sunflowers for the kids this year, and have harvested their heads (the sunflowers, not the kids) and kept them in our garage to dry out.
The birds love the seeds, and it's great for homemade duck food, but will these seeds keep until spring and plant out and grow new sunflowers next year? Or do commercially-bought giant sunflowers not produce fertile seeds?
We literally have thousands of them, but don't want to waste time planting them out next year if they're not viable.
