Plant for windowless WC 🌱

I’m looking for a houseplant for a windowless downstairs loo. As it’s completely dark when not in use, I suspect my only practical option is plastic? I’ve read articles that suggest a snake plant may survive, but I wonder if anyone has grown anything successfully in similar conditions? Thanks!

Aspadistra ?

Thanks, having looked it up, it sounds like it may stand a chance!

Unfortunately, there is NO plant that can survive without light - it's essential to their photosynthesis, not even an Aspidistra (which do tolerate low light levels) so I think you'll just have to go the artificial route.

Only way I can think is to have 2 plants and swap them once a week but that would be a faff.

Nanthewiser, I thought as much but I think, Diodon might be on to something 😃

There are some very realistic plastic plants around. I got some for my bathroom which is also windowless. They do actually look good! Very low maintenance Wink

A peace lily can thrive on low light or maidenhair fern again with low light also spider plant I think.
Can you maybe move the plant into the kitchen for an hour a day and then put it back in the WC? Or leave the door open for a couple of hours if possible?

I do the swapping over thing - making sure it swaps with one that's had plentiful light
