Raised Beds

I want to build some raised beds with sleepers against my fence. There will be a small gap left between the fence and the back sleeper because the fence posts stick out so the sleeper cannot go flush against the fence if you see what I mean. Does anyone else have this gap and have any tips on how to stop weeds growing in it? Thanks!

When you put the sleepers down against the fence posts, cut some plastic and put it underneath covering the soil in the gap

Put down a heavy duty garden membrane or thick plastic then a layer of clippings or pebbles. You will still get the odd weed no matter what you do as the wind will carry seeds which will get into the gap but the membrane will stop them setting deep roots and they will be easy to see and pull out or spray on the pebbles.

Or lay a piece of wood/plank from the sleeper on the ground behind it on top of some gravel. Or even concrete it?

Several layers of cardboard will help kill the weeds if you put that down first then the raised beds.

Thank you for the ideas. I put some membrane down in the end with bark chips on top. Fingers crossed it works

Just be aware that doing it that way is fine but it does have its problems. When the bark breaks down it becomes soil and any weeds which are allowed to grow will be caught in the membrane. Always best to be on top of the weeding when using membrane.
