Which lawnmower do you have?

Just moved into new house & garden is mainly lawn. STBXH has petrol mower and I want to buy a new one.

Any recommendations? Should I get a hover mower? Thinking about strimmer, too.

Advice gratefully received!

I have this
www.husqvarna.com/uk/products/lawn-mowers/64/964954003/
And I absolutely love it.

No running costs
Can go anywhere in the garden
Does a beautiful job even on really long grass
Can be used on wet grass
Quieter than any of my neighbours mowers
And cuts really nicely

I have the collector bag and put all the clippings on my raspberries

It depends on how good you'd like the lawn to be. Rotary mowers are cheaper to buy and maintain, but aren't as good on undulating ground. Cylinder movers cost more and need to be used regularly to maintain the height of the award.
Whether you choose petrol/electric, or human powered a la Ta1kinpeace, is usually dictated by the size of the lawn (and, in the case of human powered, fitness).

My main lawn is pretty big by modern standards (around 80 feet by 20)
My push mower does a beautiful job and its not hard work.
It works fine on rough ground (like the vegetable garden paths)
and yes, its a bit of exercise. No harm in that.

I have a battery operated mower. It’s fabulous. Our lawn is reasonably large and it does it easily - just charge in between.

We have a Toro zero turn, DH does most the mowing and can do our lawn (1acre) in about 30mins

I have a petrol self propelled mower from Aldi and it’s been brilliant.

I would never have another “human powered” mower. My garden is huge and slopes in two directions - it was ridiculously hard work, especially in the sun. If you have a smaller flat garden it might not be as bad though.

I have the Greenworks battery lawnmower and I love it.

I have a cheap rechargeable one, from Argos, had it for 3 years now and it is fab. I mow up all my weeds after leaving them on the path to crispen up.
