Can I cut this right back

I have 2 lovely jasmine each side of my patio door and when I first moved into the house I didn’t want to screw the trellis to the wall but 2 years on I want it higher and more secure so my question is, can I cut jasmine right back and if so when would I do it so it comes back nice and strong once I have secured the trellis.

That looks like Trachleospremum jasminoides, which usually flowers in late summer. And should be pruned in the spring.

You can cut it back now, just be prepared for the fact that it might not flower well next year. Also make sure you water it well after - you're putting it under a bit of stress with the pruning and this heatwave isn't helping.

I would be tempted to leave it and put another piece of trellis up. You could put a spacer (just a piece of random wood) behind both pieces so they are level

Another vote for leaving it and adding more trellis. It will take years to regain that height if you cut it right back
