Hi I have a carnation that looks poorly, some buds dying before opening, I have lots of bees in the garden but also have lots of another insect, picture included, I think they are thunder flies but I'm not sure. How do I get rid of them without hurting the bees?

Thanks

That looks like a hoverfly to me - they don't cause damage afaik. I think there is something else going on, like disease, and it's coincidence the flies are there.

Looks like Tequila Sunrise Pink. Lovely aren’t they?

Hoverflies are one of the good guys - they eat aphids and other pests and co-exist with bees quite happily.

Thanks. The insect is hoverfly, there were eggs or larvae on the petals. I got Neem Oil and sprayed it on hopefully it will kill them, it doesn’t hurt the bees

Yes it’s tequila sunrise, not looking it’s best at the moment.
I’m hoping it will survive.
