Tips for taking cuttings?

I want to take some cuttings off a 25 year old fuschia, but I'm not sure where to start. I've got some good quality potting compost and rooting gel. Can anyone talk me through what to do for best chance of a healthy plant at the end of it?

2 inch cuttings from non flowering stem, remove bottom leaves & dip in rooting powder & put at edge of pot of damp compost then a plastic bag over & on windowsill. I have An awesome book-will send photos

This is the first year I'm doing cuttings but last year stuck a bit of sedum in a pot & cut of Artemisia straight in the ground & both flourished!
