Hi everyone, I have a young apple tree in my newish garden. It’s growing and is about 8 feet at the moment. The other day I noticed it has some strange white fluffy-looking stuff on some of the branches. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks!

Looks like woolly aphid.

Thanks NameChanged - just googled and sounds like I need to scrape it off ASAP!

We had it on our apple tree too. DH sprayed it with something (but not nasty chemicals), I’ll ask him what it was when he gets home.

That would be brilliant, thank you! Smile

So, was half correct. He did spray the tree, but just with a jet of water from the hosepipe to remove the aphid.

Get rid of it ASAP - it killed my Bramley tree.

Ooh me too - I have just this very same thing. thanks i will give the branches a firm hosing tonight to kill the blighters (before an inevitable hosepipe ban is imposed!)
