What does everyone do for their indoor plants when they go on holidays , especially in this hot weather?

I've read you can stand them in a tray of water but some of the tips for my plants say thy hate soggy roots.
I've also seen these watering balls, do they work?

Depends how long you are away for. I used to stick them in the bath, raised up with cloth wicks under them, and then run 6” of water into the bath. They lasted for at least a month. If you have a very delicate plant that won’t cope, you need foster parents.
DD uses those plastic water reservoirs shaped like little frogs that you spike into the soil and top up with water, but she’s only done that for a week at a time.
