Does anyone know what this plant is please? It has been on a south facing wall and is a climber (we've had to dig it up and want to replant it somewhere). I can't quite remember the flowers clearly but I think they're small and white.
Thanks

Hydrangea petiolaris?

motherforceawakens · 29/06/2018 20:08

Thanks knittedfairies but no, I have one of those and it's definitely not the same.

It looks like a hydrangea.

I have just checked the leaves and actually they are very similar.... although the unidentified plant's leaves are a little stiffer and slightly smoother. Maybe you're right though, maybe it is a hydrangea...

There’s a cousin of the ordinary climbing hydrangea called Schizophragma hydrangeoides. It has the same growth habit and very similar leaves. Could it be that?

Thanks Trethew, maybe. I don't remember the flowers being as big as these or quite so hydrangea-looking but I have got a very bad memory so who knows!? As I now know that it's almost certainly some sort of hydrangea I can plant it accordingly and see what happens to it.
