Is this fuschia hardy?

Sorry, probably a ridiculous question. I brought this fuschia but it’s come with no info or name and I’m unsure if it’s a hardy variety I could put in my new bed? Wondered if anyone could tell from the photos?

Probably. It looks very like our hardy fuschias, but hard to tell for sure. Plant it and wait and see. If it's hardy new shoots will start to grow in spring.

Great, I will give it a go!

To be on the safe side, give it a nice duvet of mulch around the base when we are getting close to first frosts.

I have a non hardy variety coming back Beast notwithstanding.

Hardy fuschias tend to have smaller flowers than the big showy ones. You could try planting it several inches deeper than the current soil level, so part of the stem is underground too, and protect it in the winter with a thickish layer of mulch. If the top is killed by the frost, it should grow again from below ground. With luck. Hopefully.

You could take cuttings just to be on the safe side.

I bought a dozen of the showy large flowered ones last year and ten have come back this summer. So they've been in pots all through the cold winter and here they are again. If you're new to fuchsias they will look dead from november to march. But cross your fingers and if you see them sprouting snap away the dead wood and should be fine mine are just coming into flower.
