Of these flowers? They smell amazing and walk past this bush all the time and now need to know what they are called. Apologies for the bad photos!

It's honeysuckle!

hastalavistababy · 28/06/2018 22:44

Thank you botanica ! Just need to find a perfume that smells like it now ... and also find a space in our garden to plant it. Is it easy to plant? Does it grow easily?

M&S does a honeysuckle perfume.
Mine grows well in a sunny spot, but give it something to cling to (trellis or wire pinned to a fence).

I planted one 3 weeks ago in a spot where many other plants have perished and it's shooting up. The one I got is evergreen but not all of them are.

If you wear honeysuckle perfume do you attract bees?

Great tips, thank you. Might get some this weekend and give it a go. I can’t get over how good it smells, especially in this weather

I had honeysuckle in my wedding bouquet, beautiful perfume

Oops!
Aw. I love a genuine, pure thread like this!
Honeysuckle does smell incredible doesn’t it? It’s brilliant for bees and butterflies too.

And if you pick off a whole flower tube and open it up, you can suck the sweet nectar from the inside.

It's pretty hardy but can go mad if you don't keep on top of it. I keep mine trained round trellis. I have a mock orange next to it and that's beautifully scented and an easy grower too.

Botanica · 28/06/2018 23:15

It's beautiful isn't it! Love the thought of honeysuckle perfume or room fragrance. Off to google now....
I have a beautiful honeysuckle growing over a pergola and trellis and it gives me a lot of pleasure. It can get a bit woody so just cut off the dead bits every year and it should thrive.
Also worth taking a look at the evergreen varieties too if you want to have more foliage through winter.

PinkSquidgyPig · 28/06/2018 23:21

If you want another delicious climber try white Jasmine. The smell is probably even lovelier. I've had both and they are truly rewarding. Easy to grow too.

Thanks again for all the tips. I’m trying to get in to gardening a little bit more so will be coming around here more often!
The only challenge I’m going to have is to find some space in the garden for a trellis for the honeysuckle but I’ll see what I can do.
Pinksquidgypig we have a white Jasmine vine in our garden and it is my favourite. On warm summer nights like we are having now the smell is just fantastic. It makes me happy everytime I walk past it
