What to plant here?

I have a bare patch in one of my borders and would love some plant suggestions!
It's a south facing bed with dry soil. It's between 2 conifers so the soil is a bit depleted. There is a large ceonothus which dominates (I've just cut it back hence the gap!) and there is a very happy acanthus next to it and a pulmonaria in front, to give you an idea of what is thriving. I also have lavender and verbascum in the bed too.
I'd like some colour but it needs to be pretty tough! Any ideas?

The good old standard answer - Crainsbill geranium. Loads of varieties and shades from white to dark purple. You could get several that flower at different times. Tough as old boots!

Of course! I have a couple too so I will do some cuttings. I also have a salvia which I might bung in too.
Thanks!
