Neighbour garden etiquette

Having lived until almost 40 years old without neighbours I'm now in a semi with tall fences but slugs so neighbours are slightly visible. What do I do? Do I ignore they're there? The slots are quite slim so although I could tell if someone was in a neighbouring garden I'd struggle to have eye contact etc. I don't want to appear 'stuck up' etc but equally I'm not particularly interested in striking up a friendship or whatever as I'm always dashing about and sometimes it's hard to get away if neighbours want to talk (so I've found out!).

Ignore them is the normal thing. Not sure about the slugs.

Reed fencing across? Not too costly at all.

😂 not slugs, should say slits! Sorry about that 😅
