Is this a lovely climber or deadly nightshade?!

This plant is growing vigorously up my fence. It has small red flowers and pointed leaves that grow in pairs (one opposite another). It is quite pretty, and I was admiring it the other day, when a friend said she thought it was deadly nightshade and I should get rid of it at once!

Can anyone more knowledgeable let me know if it is indeed nightshade, please? Googling has not been very conclusive.

The leaves on your plant look too long and thin to be belladonna.

Purple flowers on deadly nightshade, like potato flowers but smaller and a good deep purple with a yellow bit in the middle. Don’t recognise your plant, sorry.

Hmm...they’re not actually as long and this as this photo makes them look, somehow.

Oh no, it’s not those purple and yellow flowers - I know those. Phew! I wonder what it is though??

The flowers die and are replaced by single shiny black berries, if that helps anyone work out what it is?

I think it might be Jasminum beesianum

I forgot to answer the question in your title - lovely climber!Grin I bought a very small one cheaply in ASDA a few weeks ago, it's not done much yet so your photo is giving me hope.
