How maNy days do I need to do hardening off for.

Think I'm behind with this but today is the first day I've put my butternut squash and cucumber plants out to harden. So I bring them in at night.

How many days before I can put them in the veg plot for good?

I put my cucumbers out at the weekend - I know it's early, but they were desperate for more room

But do I have to have so many days where they're out in the day and in at night.

Last year I just put them straight out and they all died off.

Mine have been out since the weekend and in at night and have planted out today but no idea if that is right!?

I wait for a couple of warm days then do it as then its not such a shock
