So sorry if this is a repeat thread, I couldn't find one in my quick sear h but anyway...
My daughter has recently been introduced to the joys of pineapples now that they are in season.
We go through at least one a week if not more.
Being the self sufficient girl I am I thought hmm.. Maybe in 5 years time I could have my own pineapple plants growing from the crowns...
Ive attempted to root about 4 now with no such luck.
Have done everything I could find on the Internet but clearly must be doing something wrong.
What do you get pineapple crowns to root?
Has anybody even had any success... I'm beginning to think it's all a joke and pineapples actually just pop up out of nowhere.....

I have one.
you need to remove quite a few bottom leaves, plonk it into a pot with compost and wait. success rate about 1 in 2.

a word of warning: they get big. and are spikey.

for fruiting they need quite specific conditions (look up bob flowerdew).
fwiw ours is 5 years old and no fruit so far, but it's not in ideal conditions.

I Took off a lot of the lower leaves so I had about 1inch of the stem bare... But nothing 😑
Will keep trying! Thanks for the advice! Any more is welcome.

I bought what I thought was a bromeliad from the garden centre. Took it home, put it in a pot and watered it occasionally. Admired the interesting flowers. Few weeks later the interesting flowers turned into a pineapple!

It only grew about an inch long, so hardly going to keep anyone fed, but it was cool to have grown one anyway! Following the thread for tips on how I can improve my pineapple husbandry...

(I'm not in the UK)
