Is this a Honeysuckle?

Just moved house and there is a huge climbing (non fragrant) plant in the garden.

Could it be a honeysuckle? Any other contenders?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes I think so. Although I’m no expert!

WatermelonGlitter · 16/06/2018 12:41

Looks like one!

It looks like it. Does it smell on a night? Some only have a scent then.

notapizzaeater · 16/06/2018 12:43

Yes it is

LIZS · 16/06/2018 12:43

I would say yes.

Every day’s a school day.

I’ll check tonight.

Thanks all.. I’ve always wanted a honeysuckle (although I’ll have to look into how/when to prune it. It’s going through the eves and into the garage!)

Now I’ve said that, I’m not sure it’s actailly true. I could be thinking about a different plant or I could have just made it up entirely. Blush

It's a honeysuckle. Hey smell gorgeous in the evening and early morning.

I had one under my bedroom window as a kid and the smell just takes me back to summer bedtimes as when I was little.

One of my favourites

Yep, it's honeysuckle, I've got one in my garden. It's a quick grower.

FraxinusExcelsior · 18/06/2018 06:17

You can cut it back after it's finished flowering. They tolerate hard pruning with no ill effects.

VanillaSugar · 18/06/2018 06:40

The flower is definitely a honeysuckle.

Ski40 · 18/06/2018 18:52

I'd say so, yes. I have one identical, in a yellow cream colour. Smells so lovely!

LadyLucille · 18/06/2018 22:27

Thanks everyone.

I wish it smelled, but despite smelling in the morning and evening... nada 😢

Still the bees absolutely love it and there must be about 30 of them around it at anyone time... the noise is amazing! (I love bees 🐝!)

Good to know even I can’t mess up pruning... it’s absolutely massive and needs a definite trim!

Thank you all
