What shrubs for around the bay window? (I’m clueless!)

Hello,

We’ve had our drive done and they’ve left a space for a bed around the bay window in the front of our house.

In an ideal world I would like ‘green bushes’ here that stay green all year, are hard to kill, that I could put Christmas lights in Grin

(See? Clueless!)

Can anyone help me out with some names of what’s i could buy and plant now?

And is whatever I buy going to need to be small now?

It’s about 1.5 feet deep and 8 feet across...

Photinia, euonymous, evergreen viburnum, escallonia pink Elle would all work for you. Do you want lots of the same thing, to form like a hedge?

Pyracantha is a good evergreen shrub for this sort of space. It can be clipped to shape, has spikes so a burglar deterrent and supports Christmas lights beautifully.

An ideal shrub is the Christmas Box, Sarcocca humilis or hookeriana. It is evergreen with shiny leaves and grows to only a few feet tall. In winter, it produces tiny white flowers that have a wonderful perfume, that last a long time. Before I had my front garden paved, I had one near the front door to my porch, and it would fill the porch with its scent.

I have early spring bulbs - snowdrops, crocus and narcissi in my bed, looks really cheery in the depths of winter.
Plus hyacinths as they smell so good
