House plant that is cat-safe and needs no light!

I have a cat and a dark living room. I have seen some beautiful green leaved plants that need little light but they all seem to be potentially harmful to cats.

Please can someone recommend a houseplant that is not dangerous to cats and needs little or no light?

Sorry - mean little or no sunlight - there is obviously artificial light.

I was sceptical about the light but having googled it it seems there are some suitable for low light. No idea about the cat thing.

The only plant that comes to mind that will tolerate low light levels is the Aspidistra (not called the 'Cast iron plant' for nothing!) It doesn't seem toxic to cats, but expect to pay a lot of money for one...

ferns?

I checked out fearns, which I love, and they are also toxic to cats. I looked at the Aspidistra and it is NOT poisonous to cats but I don't like it at all. I am starting to think I will get an artificial plant!

Scratch that! Good quality artificial ones are too expensive.

I think I have found an answer in the Peperomia plant. I have included a link for other people who may be interested. There are lots of varieties and I really like most of them.

Update - following my last post I went to the local garden centre to get the Peperomia. There were about 4 types but I didn't like any of them.

I saw a lovely plant labelled 'mixed Tradescantia'. I remember reading somewhere that spider plants (also Tradescantia) is classed as non-toxic to cats so I've bought one of those. I believe the one I've bought is Yellow Hill and is also one of the types known as Wandering Jew.

Very happy with it.
