Afternoon all,
Desperate for advice please on this Acer, it's only been in the ground a few weeks but is looking crinkly and not too healthy. It's had plenty of water, is there something I should feed it to help it back to health? Would I better taking it out and giving it some tlc in a pot for a few weeks, or moving it elsewhere?
Any help gratefully received :)
Thankyou!

I know that they dislike being in windy/exposed conditions. Could this be the problem?

I think I would put it back in a pot and see how it does - it's not happy right now, is it? Don't feed it, you could do more harm than good.

Acers don't like being disturbed during the growing season. You should only plant or repot while they're dormant in winter. It's unhappy because you've planted it now instead of waiting till winter. Don't disturb it again, just water and feed with liquid seaweed and leave well alone. It may or may not recover.

is it getting too much Sun?
Is the soil ok I hear they like peaty/sandy soil. I'm curious too I've just killed one

I have a garden full of Acers and agree it is Wind damage. Never feed an ailing plant. I had a new Acer Griseum last year that was affected the same way. Just leave it alone, the dead leaves will fall off and new ones will come on. Dont panic, don’t dig it up, don’t overwater it and definitely do not prune it.

In Autum give it a top dressing or Ericaseous soil and some Composted bark on top of that. Next April give it an Ericaseous feed but follow the instructions with regard to quantities.

This is mi e this year
