Diseased Eucalyptus?

We have a beautiful, mature Eucalyptus but it is dropping lots of leaves (a large bucketful every 2 days). The leaves are going red and crispy and have some nodules on them. See photo. Any ideas on what it is and how to treat?

Ugh. Looks a bit like some sort of rust. I just Googled eucalyptus leaf disease and there are a number of pictures that look similar to that - perhaps you could look there and see if you can find a match?

I did try to find out what is was from google but there are a number of things it could be that I am not sure. My DH seems to think it is a parasitic wasp. I am not convinced. I have also heard that they drop their leaves anyway and that it is usual to have some sort of bump on the leaves.

Confused

Could you ask at a local garden centre?

Look at Eucalyptus gall wasp (Ophelimus sp.).

Ours drop leaves constantly...doesn't seem to have any detrimental effect
