Can anyone identify this tall border plant? I think it also comes on a dark pink variety.

Love it, but can’t find it anywhere online!

Valerian! You don't need to buy it - it's basically like a weed. Just dig up a clump and separate it into a few sections, and re-plant Smile

I thought so as I saw in some lovely villages by the verge while on hols! Not sure I can nick some from the posh gardens where I live...

Comes I. Red, pink and white and grows as a weed in coastal areas

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 06/06/2018 07:10

Apparently it attracts cats (great) and eats (ARGH).

I've never seen my cats anywhere near it! It's very pretty but self seeds everywhere - if you're in Herts I'll give you a load for free! Pink though. I'd like some white but haven't seen any around here.

Is this the stuff that pokes out of walls?? I love it too.

I have it in pink, was going to post a photo for id!

Roystonv · 06/06/2018 20:32

I want some, nearby houses have it but never felt cheeky enough to ask for a bit.

user1494670108 · 06/06/2018 21:13

It seems to reseed prolifically so just grab a flower head maybe!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 06/06/2018 22:55

I’m v scared they’ll attract rats which will camp out in the decking.

But they are so beautiful and wild and bee-friendly!!

I have it near decking and have never had a rat problem there

steppemum · 07/06/2018 11:12

we have rats, but not because of the valerian, but because of the chickens.

I have white, pink and red. All self seeded, can't get rid of the white actually. If you wait until it has seed heads and grab some, and scatter it, you'll get it everywhere. It is quite big.

I'll dig you some up if you're near me (swindon)
