What can we do with this neglected corner?

Any advice? I did have an idea today to turn it into a massive rockery but on second thoughts, I'm not sure the existing brickwork would support the weight ....

Any ideas what else we could do?

How much sun does it get?

ChipInTheSugar · 27/05/2018 18:20

It's quite overshadowed by neighbours' trees - I would say it faces West-south-west, so whilst not completely in shade, it's not anything like in full sun.

I'd give it a "courtyard garden" vibe. Big post with hostas , lavendars etc, a nice bench.

HowDoIGetOffTheBus · 27/05/2018 18:53

Ach, pots not post. X post too!

PotteringAlong · 27/05/2018 18:54

I agree, bench and big pots!

Asmallrole · 27/05/2018 18:54

I would clean up and weed the cracks then have pots with shady climbers up the back wall, lots of different eclectic pots and a little table and a chair on the bottom bit.

Hot tub! Grin

Oo, yes, you could create a kind of Moroccan garden area.

As others have said, also Cordyline’s in pots and training plants. Solar lights for an intimate evening seating place.

itsbritneybiatch · 27/05/2018 19:32

Can you build it up and make it a seating area? Lavender loots sound lovely also

Knittedfairies · 27/05/2018 19:38

Another chiming in to say clean it up, add a few pots of hostas and a comfy bench or chair.

Cary2012 · 27/05/2018 20:51

Scrub it really well with a solution of soda crystals.
I'd stick little plugs of ground cover stuff in the cracks which will spread and look pretty.
Then like the others I'd go for pots, nice bright colours with zingy grasses, hostas. cover the tops with coloured gravel to match the ground cover.

Thanks for the suggestion of soda crystals! Lots of ideas forming now 👍🏼

Attaching a badly drawn sketch of the garden. The weird looking things are blossom trees Grin

The neglected area is on the left behind the garage.
