Possibly 'speedwell' type?

Yes probably... thanks. The leaves are sort of furry.

I'm thinking alkanet, or speedwell.

bettys · 18/05/2018 23:38

Alkanet?

bettys · 18/05/2018 23:40

Alkanet has furry leaves

Thatsalritehun · 18/05/2018 23:40

It’s not alkanet.

Ohyesiam · 18/05/2018 23:42

It is alkanet, just not a very typical one. Usually the leaves are bigger.
Trust me I’m a horticulturalist!

Bugle

Tryingoutanothername · 18/05/2018 23:48

Is it a weed then?

I think it can be.... It's one of the ones l whine to DH to leave but he insists will take over the garden!

Is it a weed then?

My mother used to say that any plant is a weed where it is not wanted. "A rose in an onion bed is a weed."

There are parts of our garden where alkanet is very welcome, it's a beautiful plant. Same for speedwell and forget-me-not.

But I think for most "serious" gardeners, it would be a weed.
