Tree peony - cuttings?

Has anyone had any success with propagating tree peonies through cuttings at all? My parents have one that's about ten feet high, that my grandfather originally grew from seed around 50 years ago - they will have to move within the next 12-18 months, and I am feeling really sad that, after so long, they'll need to leave it behind.

Most advice I've found suggests buying tree peonies Hmm or grafting onto peony stocks: but has anyone here had any success with either layering or softwood cuttings? Or any other advice?

TIA Smile

Aw that's such a great history!

I managed to bring my mums peony bushes with me - she must have had them 30 yrs and (touch wood) they are still going strong

Has anything from it seeded that you could take with you

Mine over the last two years has seeded everywhere including in the lawn!

Ah, that's lovely- well done for transplanting them! And thanks to your post, I went out to rootle in the bush - and there were some lovely seedlings that I've extracted: brilliant idea, and so much more successful than mine GrinFlowers
