Recommendations for greenhouses?

My bloody cheapo plastic tent greenhouse just collapsed in a storm, and it's broken. I'm really fed up now and ready to just buy a decent one. Anyone got any recommendations? How do they tend to be anchored in the ground - would I be able to fit one round my (2x3m) raised bed, as I did with the plastic one?

They're usually anchored in concrete on the perimeter. You'll need 10' x 8' to cover your raised bed. An automatic opening vent is a good investment.

Are there any companies you would recommend?

My advice would be to buy the best you can afford. Do plenty of research, there are dozens of variations out there which may or may not suit your needs. Hessayon, Titchmarsh and others have written guides to greenhouses which are well worth consulting before you take the plunge and buy something for your garden.

Doing it yourself might be your first inclination, since it cuts the cost by half, but bear in mind that doing it properly is labour intensive and requires at least some specialist knowledge.

Have you considered a poly tunnel? They come in a variety of sizes are are relatively easy for the energetic novice to put up. They may not look lovely but they do the job and cut down on the cost.

I have bad feelings about polytunnels since my one bought it in a storm this week! We do get the occasional streak of shockingly bad weather - massive thunderstorms and hail - so it would need to be a pretty good one. ButI wouldn't be against that no. Are there any you would recommend? I'll look up Titchmarsh's guide too, thanks.

Sorry, I don't know many companies. I'll have a look at mine and see who made it. They're not too difficult to erect yourself. I've built three with my dad, two aluminium framed and one steel framed polycarbonate one. The two aluminium ones are still standing! Both over twenty years now.

Thanks very much!

Halls is mine. At the nursery today they had a display of Harrison's. They looked nice, but the price😬

We bought an Alton one. Not cheap but the best investment ever.

Those Alton ones are prettier than my actual house. I think I would want to move in!
