What colours do you like and how shady is it?

Aqualegia? Go to the garden centre and see what's in bloom/about to. It takes a while to get a garden that's interesting all year round.

Your wall is crying out for a spring flowering clematis. Kerria Japonica is in flower now, although it has to be pruned to keep it in check.
Azaleas are also in flower now and look very pretty.

Cottoneaster grown up against the wall would be nice. Mine is just starting to show pink flowers now which will eventually turn into red berries that birds love.
Wallflowers are out now, so you could get some in the autumn ready for next spring
Clematis-like Montana. For the wall. Lots of flowers
Forsythia is one of the first shrubs to flower- good bright yellow
Lupine will be our soon.
And roses are starting to appear, so some rose bushes would be great value.

Thanks everyone, for your ideas, it gets sun all afternoon, shaded in the morning. I agree the wall needs brightening.

I was supposed to type ‘lupins will be out soon’. I need to admit defeat and wear glasses.
