I'm about to plant some mint and basil to grow indoors but my track record is not good with keeping herbs alive. Can anyone offer any tips to try and help them survive? And also is just a regular flat seed tray the best thing to grow them in? Cheers!

Not sure I can help you with growing mint indoors - I grow it outdoors where it is taking over the garden....

As for basil, you could start it off in a seed tray, but you will need to transfer the plants one to a largish pot. (They die if overcrowded). Then put them on a sunny windowsill, and give them lots of water and a bit of food from time to time. Mine start to look miserable by the end of winter so I then start a new batch of each spring. Good luck!
