Beginner! Climbing plant advice

Been in my house for 2 years now and his is my first year attempting to keep green things alive (the previous years have been spent in successive newborn/toddler fog)

I'd like a planter by my front door, with trellis going up the wall. I have no idea what sort of plant to go for and Google has just confused me more.

I'd like something that looks nice all year round, preferably grows quickly and fairly simple to maintain. I have no experience but capable of following instructions!

Does such a plant exist?

Winter flowering jasmine is nice, or a climbing rose, a Passion flower but they do shed in winter. I love wisteria but have never grown one

Does it get the sun or is it shady?

Any chance of planting in the ground rather than a container?

Brokit - it gets the sun from about 1pm until the end of the day

Knitted - there is about 6 inches of gravel before paving slabs. I could get rid of the gravel easily, but I don't want to have to lift paving slabs!
