Found these growing in my new garden. I suspect they are overgrown weeds (the purple ones) and they look a bit suspicious to me!!! Any ideas what they are?

Also yellow flowers have come up that I suspect are supposed to be there!

So hard taking over a new garden and having no clue what is to keep and what is to bin!

Are the purple ones deadly nightshade? If so the berries and foliage are poisonous, I think.

Purple ones are aquilegia, yellow look like wallflowers. Neither poisonous!

Wistfulthinking · 05/05/2018 21:47

I think aquilegia too - I love them and have several

First one is aquilegia and the other wallflowers. They're quite safe.

LadyB49 · 05/05/2018 22:04

Acquilegia and everlasting wallflower which comes back each year and only in yellow. Other wallflower is a little more showy and in various colours

Thanks so much - sorry my notifications obviously weren't on as didn't realise anyone had replied!

It was the deadly nightshade I was worried about (that I now know is aquilegia!!) for some reason in my head, if I were a deadly nightshade I would look like that!
