Cheaper plant pots?

Hi
Wondering if you where I can get cheaper plant pots from - my local garden centre is V expensive as is homebase. I need large pots. I'm clueless re gardening, but trying to plant some large pots to liven up a sad looking decking area.

By the way does anyone know how to clean up decking without using a pressure washer? Mines looking very manky with a horrible green tinge to it. I've swept it well with a hard brush....
Wondering if there's a special soap I can use.?
Thanks

Will be watching this thread with interest! Plant pots: have you been to your local tip? Ours hasn’t masses of free ones of various sizes. You might strike lucky!

Wilkos is good for cheap ceramic pots

People often advertise second hand planters on Gumtree.
As for the decking, try a solution of white vinegar and fairy washing up liquid. Be wary of run off as the vinegar will kill plants. Which is why it’s good for getting rid of algae.

Do you have a Morrison's nearby? Ours has really big terracotta pots for £5. They're big enough to plant a small shrub in and if you plant smaller, trailing plants round the outer edge, they'd look really attractive.

Pots are this sort of size (the dog is very small, mind!)

I know you've sid you would prefer terracota but don't discount some of the large platic/resin ones from places like Homebase .

The black ,matt ones are not bad ,much chaeper and much much lighter and more manageable

or use a cheap plastic effort inside a wooden one

wild card !

Honestly I'd go for fewer but much larger pots. They seem to shrink to nothing when you get them home and in the garden and smaller pots dry out at a rate of knots - been there, worn the t-shirt. Think big! Grin

Be wary of pots being too cheap as they may not be frost proof which means they wont last long through our winters. I got some nice ones from van hague recently which were £20 each.

Do you have an IKEA nearby? Lovely pots, very cheap.

I have also seen terracotta pots in Poundland.

Wilko have really good value pots and there plants are brilliant too.

userxx · 02/05/2018 13:38

Wilko's and Asda have some good ones. I've also picked up a few different varieties of heuchera from Asda - £3.00 for a decent sized plant.

stirling · 02/05/2018 14:33

Thanks everyone for the brilliant suggestions!

B&M sell terracotta cheap

MrsBertBibby · 03/05/2018 08:22

TKMaxx sometimes have bargains.

namechange2222 · 03/05/2018 08:28

Recently b&q were selling off huge pots for £1. Mostly plastic but I did get two terracotta ones as well

GingerKitCat · 03/05/2018 15:16

I've been in two B&Qs this week and they were both selling off terracotta and blue glazed pots. Some resin ones also.

Oldraver · 08/05/2018 10:42

I got a set of three from Morrisons last year..they had different colours, for about £12/15. I'm hoping they will have similar this year.
