What to do with old rattan table base?

The glass broke on the table top over the winter but I am loathe to take it to the tip to become landfill. Any ideas on upcycling projects or a use for it? It has an X base and is rectangular (was a 6 seater cube jobby).

TIA! Look forward to any suggestions as I'm drawing a blank!

Replace the glass?

Was it a high or low table? If I’m imagining it correctly, and it’s a low base, you could put marine ply wood around the edge, fill in each section with compost and plant herbs or succulents.

Second replace the glass....

It is a high one but actually JT05 that might not be a bad idea.

I looked into replacing the glass but the old glass keeps on popping up all over the patio from the cracks and frankly I'd rather not have that all over again - already paranoid about DC out there with no shoes!

Tile it? If you look on pinterest there are some lovely pictures of moroccan style cement tiles on garden table tops. I'm going to do it to a very old wooden table top we have had hanging around and which has seen much better days

Yes tile it or make another top from wood?

JeffreyNeedsAHobby · 07/05/2018 08:50

There isn't enough support for tile...I've put it on freecycle as I don't really have room for another planter. I've seen some lovely tiled ones too! Good luck with your projects!
