Would really like to know what this plant is, we moved into our house and it was already planted in the ground. It’s definitely hardy and goes almost woody in winter then in spring it has these lovely pink flowers

It looks like a type of magnolia , or camellia. Do the flowers open to a flat almost rose like flower (camellia ) or do they stay cup shaped when open ? (Magnolia).

To clarify - I do think it is a magnolia, with the upright buds, but camellia is an alternative guess.

They do open into small flowers but I can’t remember what they look like from last year, we’ve only lived in this house for a year and didn’t pay much attention to the garden last year so couldn’t say until they start opening. I would say the flowers aren’t as big as a camellia and I don’t think it’s a magnolia as it’s more of a bushy plant than a tree as it’s only 40cm high and it’s barely grown in height since last year

Looks like an Azalea to me. Should be flowering about now.

Haberpop · 26/04/2018 11:18

I thought Azalea too

Cheesenacho123 · 26/04/2018 11:20

Yes it looks like an azalea when looking at the photos from google

I reckon Azalea.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/04/2018 12:07

Yes could be an azalea, for some reason the flowers looked much too large to me, I don’t know why ! I have an azalea that colour but the flowers are fairly small, so I ruled it out..

Another vote for Japanese azalea
