I’m so chuffed with this so had to share!!!had 20 leylandii felled yesterday in my back garden and it has opened up the view so much!

The house hadn’t been lived in for 2 years, so it’s a BIG garden project!

So satisfying! A lovely space and view.

We got rid of four of the buggers at the back of our house in November, planted by the previous occupants and they had just got out of control.

They should be banned, they're awful!

TheSpottedZebra · 25/04/2018 09:40

Don't you usually wait until outside of nesting season to fell trees?

Or are Leylandii exceptions?

Kitsmummy · 25/04/2018 13:31

The tree surgeons did say that if there were nests they’d have to stop so presumably there weren’t any. They also had to get a licence from the council so all above board.

We had a row of Leylandii at the bottom of our garden. Their owner had them felled when he decided to build a garage; we got about 5’ of garden back.

Enjoy your space!

Onesmallstepforaman · 25/04/2018 20:18

The best kind of lleylandii, dead ones! If you peel the bark on one side they will be ready to burn (woodburner) sooner. Dead Leyland and free heat, magic.

We had 63 of the buggers in a medium sized suburban garden. Luckily the previous owners had only planted them a year before they sold so they were reasonably small but we're planted about a good apart. DH took a chainsaw to them!
