My friend asked me if I knew what a few of her plants were, I knew most of them but this picture has me foxed. Any ideas?

From my very limited plant knowledge, the leaves look like sage. Have you tried rubbing them between your fingers and having a sniff? Not the most scientific approach granted, but you never know! There are apps where you can take a pic and ask them to id a plant, although how reliable they are I don't know.....

Apologies for duplicate post - app playing silly wotsit!

Hi Frazzled, it’s not sage, I’d recognise that one...I don’t think the leaves are thick enough, and I don’t think they grow in that arrangement. I wondered at some type of hebe, but I’m not sure. Anyone else hazard a guess?

Some form of cistus maybe?

linspins · 21/04/2018 23:13

Aha! Enrique, I think you’re right! I’ve just googled images and they do look pretty similar, especially the buds. Cheers!
I can now message friend and tell her....shall I own up to having Mumsnet help, or take the glory?! 😁😂

Grin I'm just happy to likely be right Halo The flowers are very delicate and pretty, but don't last long, so it's good that they're prolific. It's a sturdy plant though, so great value in the garden.

Agree its a Cistus
