Car deterrent?

Is there a good cat deterrent I can use please? I have moved next door to two cats who are constantly in my garden. I personally really dislike them and their owner told me they will come in my kitchen if the back door is open!

Buy a water pistol but please, please don't aim it AT the cats, just close to them, should they come in your garden. They'll soon learn that they're not welcome.

Also ask neighbours to regularly turn over patch of earth in their garden to toilet. This may stop them pooping in yours.

chilli and garlic powder.
diluted orange squash/citrus fruit peel.
all have to be re-applied after rain

and shooing them away each time you encounter them
