Not necessarily this variety but I'm pretty sure it is a geranium. Our garden is full of it. Its definitely not a buttercup.

You are all brilliant, hardy geranium it is then, I won't dig it up! How about this one? Also a geranium?

herb robert - yes also geranium family i think.
its easy to pull up so keep it if you need to fill spaces then rip up when ready.
