Moving a monkey puzzle tree

Hi there
I saw a 6ft monkey puzzle advertised online for the buyer to dig up and make an offer on.
I offered £30 for it but they said they wanted £40 which I think is very fair.
The tree is 6ft tall though and I always wanted one but they are way too expensive.
The trouble is I am not sure how well they transport, it's only a ten minute drive but I'm wondering about the actual digging and re planting, do they cope?
And also how big are the roots likely to be and will it take an age to dig?

Thank you

Tree roots tend to mirror the canopy. Moving conifers is difficult as the leaves will increase the moisture level needed to survive. If you were to do it, I'd suggest Autumn. Don't plant too close to the house, they can really take over once established.

@Onesmallstepforaman thanks so much for this
I've decided not to take it as it will be cruel incase it dies and also I think too much work to dig out

Why not ask experts for advice? Wakehurst Place in Sussex is Kew Gardens tree place. If anyone knows how to move a monkey puzzle tree safely, it’s likely to be them.
