Mulch or composted bark or....?

Novice gardener here! I’m very busy trying to de-weed, get my garden under control. But trying to work out what I can use on the flowerbeds to make them look more attractive and help with the weeds. What should I be using? Heard talk of mulch, composted bark but don’t know which to use?

Tough weeds, like dandelion grow through anything. It’s best to try to get all the weeds out first and hoe out any little seedlings that reappear. Bark is a good mulch to keep the ground clear, but nothing is perfect.

I'm considering trying this GroSure smart ground cover this year:

here

It's much lighter by weight, goes 50% further than bark chippings, knits together, does't blow away and you can plump it up again. It's supposed to discourage weeds, especially seeds that blow in.
