Anyone know what this is? I like it but it’s got dead patches so I want to read up on how to prune it.

It looks rather like a pieris. I have a small 'tree' of it in my garden, and my gardener friend pruned it about 18 months ago. It seems to be quite slow-growing so it probably doesn't need much regular work.

Agree it’s a Pieris. Apart from removing dead wood (anytime) it should only need minimal pruning to retain the shape, done just as flowers are going over

Is it in a pot or in the ground? They are lime-haters, so it would benefit from some ericaceous compost or fertiliser.

Thank you. I was hoping that if I get the dead wood at the right time it’ll sprout from where I pruned. Might be a bit optimistic there.
