shaded area...

We only have a small patio area. I am already growing sunflowers(boys) and tomatoes on the sunny side of the patio. We have a garage along the other side of the patio area therefore half the area is in shade, what can we grow, plant, or pot that will be happy and bring some colour to our garden in the shaded side?.

If you google "plants for shade" you will find tons of suggestions. I like hostas - but so do the slugs! There are lots of lovely ferns that do well in shade too. as a rule, shade loving plants are not particularly colourful, but you can go for interesting leaf shapes and textures.

Geraniums (not Perlagoniums) are happy in shade. Twyford Pink is lovely, and I've got a blue flowered one that will flower anywhere, but can't remember the name! You have to be careful with that one though as it spreads like wildfire.

As yes, its Johnsons Blue. See here for more info.
