Growing strawberries?

DS (3) wants to grow strawberries. I don't really know if it's possible in a small London terrace garden. Is it? If so, how?

Grow them in pots, I do. And hanging baskets.

Lovely, thank you. Any ideas which strain might be best? I have no experience at all with this.

I just got the hanging baskets ones from Lidl and the others from B&Q. I'm not sure what type they were, sorry!

Thanks. That is really helpful actually. Makes it sound much easier than I thought!

I quite fancy having a go at this. Just found this site which is informative.

Hanging baskets are a good solution and less likely to be nibbled by ants. Otherwise you can buy a grow bag, make slits in the top and plant established plants, the ones you can get at the supermarket are fine.

I do find them easy to grow, yes. Keep them well watered and in as much sun as you can and it's hard to go wrong in my experience.

I have a planter that I put some strawberry plants in a few years ago. They grow every year. I don't do anything to it at all.

Oh good. Will get started then. DS will be thrilled. Thanks everyone!

Strawberries make babies so at the end of the summer get some new pots and use a paper lip to pin down the new shoots

We now have loads ! I composted them all today so here is hoping 🍓

Their flowers are so pretty too
