Cut flowers

I have really enjoyed growing flowers to cut and put in vases in my house in the past, and going to do it again this year.

In the past I have grown:

Dahlias
Cosmos
Zinnias
Sweet Peas
Calendula

I am definitely growing dahlias again, but going to start them in pots, to hopefully slug proof them. I love the Pom Pom shape particularly.

I really want to try ranunculus. Has anyone tried them?

I would also be interested if anyone grows foliage for flower arranging.

I have ordered from Sarah Raven before, but not particularly impressed, and costly.

I grow ranunculus. I just buy the Poundland cheap ones. Give them a 30 minute soak in water before planting one in each small coir pot. They then stay in the greenhouse and I just keep the sail damp. Then in May if last frost has passed I plant them into my tubs.
Sedums, ferns, Euonymus Blond Beauty and Pieris Forest flame all are easy to grow and produce nice foliage.
Euphorbia Wulfenii also looks good but be careful as the sap is an irritant to skin and eyes and once planted it does like to spread itself about. But it is good for early colour in your garden and looks lovely as a background for flower arrangements.
I wont buy from Sarah Raven as I think they are over priced. I do use jparkers as they are a lot more reasonable and I have always received good quality plants.

Thanks for the tips!
