No, but brother-in-law (whose a chef) was talking about them recently. Apparently very expensive, and have highest concentration of Vit C of any fruit.

MrsWho · 02/05/2007 20:27

Am tempted to grow them but wondering how easy they are?
and can they grow in a pot or the allotment ?
and can you have one or do you need a few?

Sound interesting.
No help really except order quickily as it says they are bare rooted.
please keep posting if you deciede to buy. You could be a mnet trendsetter.

Are they the latest wonder food? I seem to remember reading about them.

MrsWho · 02/05/2007 21:52

Want to be told about them first though!

I saw a programme about these on the TV. Apparantly they are DIRT cheap, they are NOT the delicacy they are made out to be, and they are prized because they make great cattle food.

MrsWho · 02/05/2007 22:47

Judging by the plants they should be cheap, masses on each plant.
I quite like them though ( maybe I am a cow?)

What do they taste like?

plibble · 03/05/2007 19:20

A bit like tea. I think they are foul and would rather eat blueberries.

MrsWho · 03/05/2007 20:21

I quite like them , hence me thinking of getting one

Does anyone grow blueberries by the way? I have two small plants that are blossoming nicely. This is their first year. Any chance of getting any fruit this autumn?

MrsWho · 04/05/2007 19:15

Am I the only one who likes them?

I have 4 blueberry bushes in my backyard and a couple in the allotment.

The ones at home are doing ok (except the one on its first year) They are supposed to take a year or 2 to settle and start fruiting , had 3 berries last year and have quite a lot of flowers on one plant atm!

I didn't realise they took so long to get going. Perhaps I should have planted more. I love them and the children can scoff a packet in minutes.
