Talk to me about August/ September flowers

DD is getting married on 1st September. I'd really like to supply a few flowers from our garden- her friend is doing the table arrangements. I have some roses, which are generally still OK then. Any other ideas for flowers- shrubs or bedding that will be around then? White is our preference, alongside lots of greenery. I plan to plant some in the Spring.

How about white varieties of Asters, Dahlias and Cosmos?

I love dahlias, and you can get so many shapes. I was cutting a bunch a day last year.

Some pure white sweet peas would be lovely, just keep deadheading throughout the summer to keep them flowering well.

I got married in September and grew gladioli for my bouquet. I also had cosmos, margarites (big daisys) and gerbera but they were a gift from a friend with a greenhouse.

How lovely to grow your own flowers for your bouquet!

My Cosmos were gorgeous last September

Hydrangeas should still be in bloom and can make stunning displays. Large ornamental grasses can also look stunning.

Thank you. I have a couple of white hydrangeas I planted last year- I hope for a lot of flowers this year.
