What plants like to have garlic near them?
I read somewhere about the smell putting some insect things off eating the plants but can't remember which one.
TIA

My dad has been an organic vegetable grower for years, and he reckons that carrots and parsnips grow well with garlic because it deters carrot fly. It also deters aphids, so it's good for planting with things that are susceptible to them - such as roses and raspberries.

It's also good for lettuce, beetroot and cabbage as it apparently improves the flavour.

Don't plant garlic around beans, peas or potatoes - it can affect the taste as well as the growth of the plant.
